Terpenes are aromatic compounds that give the hemp plant its characteristic smell.

Common terpenes

• Myrcene – earthy, calming
• Limonene – citrusy, uplifting
• Pinene – woody, clarifying

Together with cannabinoids, they create the so-called entourage effect.
